The Projects Mapper web application provides users with information on where wetlands mapping
is being conducted within the United States and U.S. trust territories. This application
was developed as a communication tool to not only direct users to the location of recently
updated wetlands data, but also identify the location of planned wetland mapping projects
to generate interest and reduce duplication of effort.
The Active Projects layer reflects the location of wetland mapping projects that are currently
taking place throughout the U.S. by various mapping entities. The duration of these active
mapping projects varies widely from project to project with many projects spanning multiple
years before completion. To view these projects in ArcMap or ArcPro, please checkout our Active Projects Feature Service.
The Recent Projects layer identifies the boundaries of projects where updated wetlands data have
been recently posted to the Wetlands Mapper. These project boundaries are represented on
the Projects Mapper for two years after data submission. Users looking for the data associated
with recent project additions should refer to the
Wetlands Mapper.
The Image Year layer identifies the decade of imagery that was used to collect the wetlands data
that is currently posted on the Wetlands Mapper.
Users can navigate the map using pan and zoom functions and can click on projects to obtain project
id and metadata information if available.
Over
160 organizations and agencies, from local, state, tribal, federal entities as well as
universities and private organizations have contributed wetlands data to the wetlands geospatial
data layer maintained by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
The Projects mapper and the Wetlands Mapper are updated simultaneously on a biannual basis.
